ABSTRACT

Objective The study aims to find a suitable obesity index for predicting hyperuricemia (HUA)in Chinese adults. Methods The obesity indexes of 8133 subjects in China Health and Nutrition Survey in 2009 were calculated, and the basic situation of them was analyzed descriptively. χ2 test and t test were used to test the differences of categorical variables and continuous variables between the HUA group and the non-HUA group. The area under the curve (AUC) and receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves were used to analyze the predictive value of these indices for HUA. Binary logistic regression was used to analyze the relationship between obesity and HUA. Results Demographic covariates, prevalence and Body Mass Index (BMI) all have impacts on the prevalence of HUA. Obesity indexes have a good predictive effect on HUA, and the Lipid Accumulation Product (LAP) is the best (AUC=0.77 (95% CI [0.75, 0.78]). Obesity indexes all have a significant correlation with HUA. When covariates were not adjusted, LAP had the highest OR value (OR=5.87, 95% CI [5.08, 6.77]). Conclusion LAP index is significantly related to HUA, and it can be used as an emerging index to assess the prevalence of HUA in Chinese adults.

ABSTRACT

Objective To explore the association between dietary quality and perceived stress among adult Chinese. Methods The China Health and Nutrition Survey (CHNS) was used to investigate the association between dietary quality and perceived stress in Chinese adults. The Chinese Perceived Stress Scale (CPSS) was used to assess the perceived stress in Chinese adults. Binary logistic regression models were utilized to explore the relationship between diet quality and perceived stress. Restricted cubic splines (RCS) were utilized to clarify the dose response relationship between diet quality and perceived stress. Results Binary logistic regression models revealed that adults with CHEI score ranged from P25 to P50 and higher than P75 had 15.1% (OR=0.849,95%CI:0.738-0.977) and 23.0% (OR=0.770,95%CI:0.666-0.891) reduced risk of high perceived stress after multivariable adjustment when compared with adults with CHEI score less than P25. RCS results showed that the OR value of high perceived stress risk decreased gradually with increasing CHEI score in the overall population, but this association was not statistically significant in adults with lower CHEI score. Conclusion High dietary quality is associated with a reduced risk of high perceived stress. This study provides a theoretical reference for the health effects of high dietary quality on high perceived stress risk reduction.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To investigate th value of MR T2* mapping for detecting salivary glands abnormalities in patients with Sjögren's syndrome (SS). Methods: A total of 43 patients with clinically proved SS (SS group) and 40 healthy volunteers (control group) were enrolled and underwent bilateral parotid and submandibular MR examinations (including T2* mapping scanning and T2* values detection of glands). Each side of parotid and submandibular gland were evaluated according to conventional MRI (T1WI, T2WI) and MR sialography images. T2* values of parotid and submandibular were compared between SS group and control group. The diagnostic efficiency of MR morphology, T2* values and the combination of them were analyzed using Logistic regression and ROC curve. The differences of the accuracy for diagnosing same abnormalities with different diagnostic methods and the same diagnostic method in diagnosing different abnormalities were compared. Furthermore, the consistency of T2* values results detected by two observers were analyzed. Results: The average T2* value of parotid ([12.88±3.37]ms vs [10.18±1.88]ms, t=-6.40, P<0.01) and submandibular ([23.58±3.73]ms vs [21.36±1.86]ms, t=-0.49, P<0.01) in SS group were significantly higher than those in control group. The accuracy of combined diagnosis for detecting parotid and submandibular abnormalities was better than independent of MR morphology and T2* values, respectively (parotid gland: Z=0.803, 4.471, both P<0.01; submandibular gland: Z=8.398, 5.329, both P<0.01). There was no significant difference of diagnostic accuracy between MR morphology and T2* value alone (parotid gland: Z=1.388, P=0.165; submandibular gland: Z=0.553, P=0.579). Using MR morphology (Z=2.525, P=0.05), T2* value (Z=0.677, P=0.498) and combination of them (Z=0.207, P=0.835), the diagnostic accuracies were not significantly different between parotid gland lesions and submandibular gland lesions. Both intraobserver and interobserver agreements for detection of T2* values were excellent. Conclusion: T2* mapping can be used to detect parotid and submandibular abnormalities in patients with SS, and the combination of T2* values and MR morphology is helpful to improving diagnosis accuracy.

ABSTRACT

The nursing experience of one hemaphagocytic syndrome patient with skin damage complication who underwent haploidentical hematopoietic stem cell transplantation were summarized. The patients gradually appeared ulceration of elbow joint skin, perianal mucosa, and bilateral axillary skin during the phase of agranulocytopenia and immune inhibition after transplantation. The overall skin ulceration area was accounted for 13% of total body surface area. We chose different dressings, combination anti-infection with promoting wound healing for nursing and achieved great effect. The skin lesions gradually healed and the patient went to the general ward successfully.

ABSTRACT

Purpose To investigate TRAP1 expression in esophageal cancer and its relationship with clinicopathological features and prognosis. Methods Expression levels of TRAP1 in 60 pairs of cancer and adjacent normal tissues were detected by immunohistochemistry, and the relevance between TRAP1 and clinicopathological features was evaluated.Kaplan-Meier and Cox proportional regression analyses were performed to determine the association of TRAP 1 expression and survival of the patients. Results The positive expression rate of TRAP1 was 55.0%,and the amount of relative protein transcript level was 2.7 ± 1.1 in the cancer tissue. The positive expression rate of TRAP1 was 11.7%,and the relative expression protein was 0.5 ± 0.4 in the adjacent normal tissue. The expression level of TRAP1 in cancerous tissue was significantly higher than that of tissue adjacent to carcinoma. There was no statistically significant difference between the expression levels of TRAP1 with sex, age, location, and degree of differentiation (P > 0.05).There was statistically significant relationship between recurrence, metastasis and TNM stages with the expression of TRAP1 levels (P < 0.05).The average survival time of TRAP1-negative patients was 69.0 months (95% CI:60.2-77.9) while the TRAP1-positive patients was 34.2 months (95% CI:24.4-44.1).High levels of TRAP1 were correlated with decreased survival of postoperative esophageal cancer patients (P < 0.05).Conclusion TRAP1 is overexpressed in esophageal cancer and associated with the progression and prognosis of esophageal cancer.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the correlation between vertebral artery dominance (VAD) and posterior circulation ischemic stroke (PCIS).Methods The consecutive patients with acute ischemic stroke hospitalized from November 2013 to October 2015 were collected. All patients underwent MRI and magnetic resonance angiography (MRA).The dominant vertebral artery was defined as having the larger diameter if left and right diameter difference ≥0.3 mm or the vertebral artery connected to the basilar artery in a more straight fashion if the diameter difference < 0.3 mm.They were divided into either an anterior circulation ischemia stroke (ACIS) group or a PCIS group according to the classification criteria of Oxfordshire Community Stroke Project (OCSP).A multivariate logistic regression analysis was performed to investigate the correlation between VAD and PCIS.Results A total of 226 patients withacute ischemic stroke were enrolled, including 172 patients (76.1%) in the ACIS group and 54 (23.9%) in the PCIS group.Fifty-four patients (23.9%) had VAD,including 38 (70.3%) on the left and 16 (29.7%) on the right. The proportion of the patients with VAD in the PCIS group was significantly higher than that in the ACIS group (55.6% vs.14.0%;x2 =39.115,P < 0.001).Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that VAD was an independent risk factor for patients occurring PCIS (odds ratio,13.60,95% confidence interval 6.90-27.01;P<0.001).Conclusions VAD is closely associated with the occurrence of PCIS,and it is an independent risk factor for PCIS.

ABSTRACT

To study the regulation of androgen receptor (AR) expression in human prostate cancer LNCaP cells by triptolide (TP) and the possible mechanism, by using qRT-PCR and Western blot, the AR mRNA and protein levels in TP treated LNCaP cells were detected, and the AR protein level in TP and NF-κB inhibitor treated LNCaP cells was also detected; a series of pGL3-AR promoter reporter gene vectors were built using restriction-free cloning method, and the vectors were employed to investigate the effects of TP on the transcriptional activity of AR promoter in LNCaP cells; the upstream proteins which may play regulatory roles were detected using western blot assay. After treated LNCaP cells with TP for 48 h, AR mRNA and protein expressions decreased with increasing TP concentration. The expression of AR target gene PART1 and prostate specific antigen (PSA) was also downregulated by TP treatment; a series of pGL3-AR promoter reporter vectors were constructed and validated by sequencing and luciferase activity; the results of dual luciferase reporter assay showed that TP downregulated AR at the transcriptional level; PI3K/AKT/NF-κB pathway which is associated with AR promoter activity was drowregulated by TP. In conclusion, our results demonstrated that the transcriptional activity of AR in LNCAP cells was downregulated by TP, and PI3K/AKT/NF-κB pathway may be involved in the regulation mechanism.
